Today the petition was formally presented to GHCC management and I am now awaiting a response. The email reads as per below:
"Hi Peter,
I hope you take the time to read and consider my below email.
I am sure you are aware of the upset the recent GHCC membership fee cost increase has caused. And I wanted to bring some thoughts and concerns that GHCC members have to your attention.
Below is a link to a petition and attached are spread sheets containing signatures and comments from GHCC members and community.

In short, this increase in membership cost is the second in 12 months. And has received negative feedback from most GHCC members, with many committed to leaving the club once their membership has expired.
Along with this, Transitional (22-30) and 9 hole memberships have been removed completely. The removal of 9 hole memberships means pensioners who are only capable of playing 9 holes have to commit to paying for a full membership. And the removal of Transitional memberships means development in the club will lack, causing a negative impact on the future of the club.
Owners and managers of golf clubs have a responsibility to develop the game of golf in New Zealand. Encouraging all generations of golfers to commit to the game, making the future of the game greater.
Myself and other GHCC members really do hope you take into consideration the feedback that has been given. And re-evaluate the Membership Fees and Transitional Memberships.
We all want a bright future for the sport we love and the club we are a part of.
