As a dedicated community of Ilkley, we have endured a prolonged and unrelenting burden of having to pay £18 a day to park in our own town. The ludicrous £250 for a yearly permit. This exorbitant expense is negatively impacting every one of us, going beyond simple inconvenience to affecting our livelihoods and community vitality. The cost of parking/ permits is making it very difficult for hard workers to come to Ilkley and do their job. In 3 years the car park has tripled in price as well as the allowed time to stay changing from all day to 6 hours. 

Our clients are having their time with us curtailed by the cost and limitations of car parking. This restriction not only hamstrings our ability to do business, it also cuts into income for local services, creating an economic ripple effect across Ilkley. With the encroaching danger of decreased tourist attraction, a more affordable and accessible car parking solution is critical for Ilkley's future.

The need for a change is imperative, as the cost of living continues to rise, yet our earnings remain stagnant. Significant changes in the car parking situation could breathe new life into the economy and interpersonal interactions of Ilkley, benefiting everyone in our tight-knit community.

This is a plea for the necessary reevaluation of parking access and associated costs in Ilkley. A reduction in the daily and annual parking fees will increase business opportunities and drastically improve the quality of life for the hardworking people of this community.
