Did you know it costs UTK $4,000 every time they unclog pipes filled with confetti? As a junior at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, I have seen my fair share of litter, most notably every spring when seniors take graduation pictures on the seal with confetti and champagne, then leave their mess for someone else to deal with. I'm all for Vol seniors celebrating, but there is no reason you can't take 2 minutes to sweep up your trash. Would you go to someone else's lawn and dump paper trash on their lawn? How would you feel if Alabama students came here and trashed our campus?

I created this petition to bring attention to this issue and encourage people to be more mindful. I would also love to start up a program where Vol seniors get free confetti alternatives, such as flower petals, leaves, or reusable confetti in exchange for keeping our beautiful campus clean. Think about all the wildlife that could be ingesting that trash, or how costly and annoying it is for random employees to have to clean it, or how it reflects so poorly on you to be inconsiderate, wasteful, and lazy. The Vols are better than this.

The last thing you do at UTK shouldn't be leaving a mess for someone else to clean up. I mean seriously, we're adults, aren't we? Don't you want other Vols to have a clean campus?
