For example, states like New York and Georgia require only 1,000 hours, reflecting a more balanced approach to education and practice. Decreasing the required hours in Chicago to a similar standard would significantly alleviate the burden on aspiring barbers while maintaining the quality of professional training.

This change would transform lives and provide more individuals the opportunity to pursue their dream careers without the financial and temporal constraints that currently exist. I urge the Chicago Board of Barbering and Cosmetology to reconsider the current licensing requirements to better support the talented and ambitious individuals striving to enter this field.
