Support our submission to stop the proposed city plan rezoning of John St Park
The Issue
For over 42 years St James Lutheran Community Kindergarten and Childcare has had an agreement with Redland City council to use a council owned park located on John St. Cleveland, as our outside play area. The centre is run by a volunteer parent management committee and is a not for profit organisation.
As part of the City Plan 2015, the council has proposed to rezone our play area as Principal Centre. This is a newly named zoning consistent with commercial use.
We wish to refute this zoning on the grounds that it does not reflect current land use or community sentiment. A zoning of community facility (CF2) would be a more appropriate zoning. This CF zoning will also help to secure the land for future use, whereas a commercial zoning may leave the centre vulnerable to any future developments that the current or future councils may decide upon.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
In order to add credence to our submission regarding the City Plan, we are asking parents extended families and the community to sign our petition. With enough signatures we are hoping to secure the land for future use and ensure the continued operation of this valuable community centre. The deadline for all submissions is 27th November 2015.
