The Issue

The Post Office has been fined £10,500,000 by Ofcom for serious errors in its Horizon IT system that led to hundreds of postmasters being falsely accused of embezzlement. Those affected lost their homes, businesses, reputations and in many cases their freedom as a result.
This massive miscarriage of justice calls for this fine to be redirected appropriately - toward the compensation of these innocent individuals. The money is currently earmarked to go into "the public purse."
Approximately 736 postmasters had their lives ruined as a result of this debacle (source: UK Common’s Business and Technology Committee). While the fine is by no means sufficient to right this grievous wrong, it is at least a step toward providing the financial recompense they are owed. Ensure justice is served on behalf of these postmasters by requiring that Ofcom's £10,500,000 fine is directed to its rightful place.
