On February 4, 2026, Senator Tim Kaine reintroduced the Arlington House legislation as Senate Joint Resolution 105 (S.J. Res. 105). This is the companion bill H.J. Res. 63 in the House of Representatives introduced by Virginia Congressman Beyer in 2025.  We Arlington House descendants remain committed to seeing this effort through. We need the help of you and many others. Today we have more that 5,360 signatures on the petition. What is extremely powerful is that people have signed the petition in every state and 19 other countries. What is even a more powerful statement is this: petition signers are located in every single Congressional District. Every voting member of the U.S. Congress has one or more constituents who support the redesignation of Arlington House as a National Historic Site.

Presently, there 123 cosponsors in 23 states on the House bill and no cosponsors on the Senate bill. There are many other (Ds) who are ready to cosponsor but they want to see this as a bipartisan effort. This legislation cannot pass in the current Congress without bi-partisan support. That is a tall order. But there are a few moderate Republicans who are ready to sign on to the bills with a nudge from their constituents. 

We want to continue to grow the number of signatures. But we also want to reach at least 50 signatures in every state. The bar chart above shows how we are doing. Twenty-one states and DC are over 50. Nine states are in the 40's and five states have less that 10 signatures. Help us get to 50 signatures in every state by reaching out to your extended network to seek support. Help us get to 5,500 signatures by May 1st. Anyone 18 years of age or older can sign. Name, city and zip code are all that are needed. you don need to make a financial contribution, but every dollar help put the petition in front of more eyes.
