As supporters of this petition, I'm pleased to share with you that on June 22, 2023 Virginia Congressman Don Beyer and Virginia Senator Tim Kaine introduced a joint resolution in the Congress of the United States titled "Redesignating the Robert E. Lee Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery as the ‘‘Arlington House National Historic Site’’.  The 147-word resolution when passed will repeal the joint resolution of June 29, 1955 (Public Law 84–107; 69 Stat. 190) and the joint resolution of June 30, 1972 (Public Law 92–333; 86 Stat. 401).  Here is the press release.  There are several references to the press release with taking a look at including a letter of support from the National Park Conservation Association.

This is a big milestone but this is just the start of the work needed to get this joint resolution passed and signed to become a law.  We need more people from across the country to sign the online petition and contact their elected officials to express their support to this legislation.
