Redesign Saddletowne Circle into a Two-Way Road for Improved Accessibility
The Issue
I live in Calgary and every day, I experience the frustration of navigating the one-way Saddletowne Circle. The store is literally right in front of my eyes but I need to drive all around the circle just to finally be able to enter the parking lot. It's not only a waste of gas but also valuable time.
The current terrible design of Saddletowne Circle forces drivers to travel unnecessarily long distances, contributing to increased fuel consumption and emissions. According to Natural Resources Canada, idling for over 10 minutes a day can use more fuel than restarting your engine (source: Natural Resources Canada). This means that we are wasting precious resources and contributing more than necessary towards environmental pollution.
Moreover, this design also leads to traffic congestion especially during peak hours which further exacerbates the problem. A two-way road system would significantly improve accessibility and reduce travel time for thousands of residents who use this route daily.
We request that City of Calgary redesigns Saddletowne Circle which is byfar one of the worst road design in Calgary history into a full working two-way road. This change will not only save us time but it will also contribute towards reducing our carbon footprint as a community.
It's high time we address this issue head-on rather than driving around it in circles. Please sign this petition if you agree with our cause.
