I recently watched a video that struck me. It's a TEDx talk by Christian Picciolini (if you haven't heard of him, you should really check out his organization https://www.lifeafterhate.org/). While it is a video detailing neo-nazism, I found it intriguing because of the similarities in incel communities and the manosphere to other extremist ideologies (in this case, neo-nazism *inb4 reductio ad hitlerum). While I do think that r/Braincels is an extremely problematic community, I think it's worth trying to help members who are willing to listen, get them out of the hate group, and make sure they receive the support they need (r/IncelsWithoutHate is a great example of this!). To understand my point: don't place the emphasis on the nazism so much, but more the conditions that led Christian into the hate movement, its overall similarities to the incel community, and the possibility for people from vile ideologies being able to recover. I do think that some incels are capable of living a happy, hate-free life if they get the support they need (with some exceptions) - I think we could all take something from Christian's talk.
Thank you all who have taken their time to sign this petition. Through the helpful criticism of fellow redditors, I have decided to change some of the written content and made what I felt was a more suitable banner.
You can also share this petition too, I really appreciate it!
Thanks - C.J
