Red Cross International: Deliver Medication to Hostages in Gaza

Red Cross International: Deliver Medication to Hostages in Gaza
The Issue
Mirjana Spoljaric Egger
President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
Today, we present to you an opportunity to save hundreds of lives. In fact, you are the person who is best positioned to make a difference.
In the wake of the unprecedentedly heinous Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7th, we are waiting with bated breath regarding the status of the nearly 200 hostages in Gaza. Their lives, not to mention the impact on their families and the ripple effect on all the people of the world, hang in the balance.
But now is not the time to simply wait. Now is the time to act.
From infants to the elderly to people with disabilities, Hamas has been holding 199 individuals in Gaza, including citizens of Israel, America, Thailand, and possibly the Philippines, Italy, and France.
Many hostages are in urgent need of essential medication and require immediate humanitarian intervention, according to media reports. We must bring them home.
We implore Red Cross International, a humanitarian organization that has consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication to alleviating human suffering and preserving human dignity, to assist on two critical fronts:
1. Transfer of Medication: Support in facilitating the safe and swift transfer of the necessary medication to the hostages. Time is of the essence, and their health is in imminent jeopardy.
2. Safety and well-being check: We earnestly beseech the Red Cross International to visit the hostages, confirm their safety, and communicate their well-being to their families.
Mrs. Spoljiac, we understand the monumental challenges and risks associated with humanitarian missions in such volatile situations. However, we believe in the compassion, integrity, and dedication that the Red Cross International embodies. We hold out hope that your organization can make a critical difference in the hostages' lives and those of their families, who have not, as of today, received any reports on conditions. Your prompt assistance could offer a glimmer of hope in the darkest hours, not just for the captives but for the entire world - which is watching.
We eagerly await your response, and we are prepared to cooperate fully to expedite any necessary arrangements.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and vital work that the Red Cross International undertakes daily. We remain hopeful of ICRC's humanitarian support on this urgent matter.
