The Issue

I am deeply rooted in Rajasthan, where the Aravalli Range has stood the test of time and human civilization. As an environmentalist committed to nature's wealth, I recognize the true importance of the Aravalli Range. It is not just a geographical feature; it is a vital part of our ecosystem, culture, and heritage. Its preservation is crucial for maintaining ecological balance, providing habitat for diverse flora and fauna, and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources for future generations.

Recently, the Supreme Court of India made a decision that poses a threat to the Aravalli Range by allowing certain developmental projects. These projects promise economic gain but at the cost of irreversible environmental damage. The Aravallis act as natural barriers to desertification, support rich biodiversity, and are integral to the water supply in the region. Destroying this range could lead to severe consequences, including increased desertification, loss of biodiversity, and dwindling water resources.

Statistics show that the Aravalli Range covers about 800 km across India, guarding the states of Rajasthan and Haryana against desert expansion. It is alarming that, according to environmental studies, this range is already under severe stress due to mining and deforestation. Further projects will exacerbate these problems and contribute to drastic ecological consequences.

I urge the Supreme Court and relevant authorities to reconsider their decision. A balance must be struck between development and conservation; a sustainable approach that respects ecological boundaries and protects our natural heritage is imperative. We can explore alternative projects that do not compromise the environment. Investments in eco-friendly industries, renewable energy, and sustainable tourism could not only bring economic benefits but also safeguard the Aravalli Range.

We cannot afford to sacrifice nature at the altar of development. The Aravalli Range must be preserved for the cultural, environmental, and economic well-being of all Indian citizens and the globe.

Please join me in urging the Supreme Court to halt these projects and rethink their decision. Sign this petition to protect the Aravalli Range.
