Dear Graduating class of 2024, DSBN Community, and supporters of this petition,
I hope this message finds you well. We wanted to provide you with an update on our recent advocacy efforts regarding the changes to our graduation ceremony. The board meeting we attended was productive, and it seems like our voices were heard.
Board Meeting Highlights: The meeting was constructive, and there was a sense that our concerns were genuinely considered. To ensure that this stays a priority for the board, we are hoping to attend the next board meeting in January. We had the opportunity to meet with a board member after the meeting, and she expressed willingness to assist us in navigating this situation.
Your support matters. The overwhelming support, comments, and signatures we received have not gone unnoticed. Your voices are making a difference.
Our presentation during the meeting went well, and the positive response has fueled our determination to continue pushing for a graduation that truly reflects the Class of 2024. We recorded our speech, and you can watch it here
What's Next? We encourage you to keep applying pressure by reaching out to your school's principals, superintendents, and board members. You can find the superintendant's contact information on the DSBN website here, and the board of trustees on the website here Share your thoughts, concerns, and ideas for solutions. Please remember to be respectful in your communications; a considerate approach can increase the likelihood of our requests being seriously considered.
We are optimistic about the support we've garnered so far, and we believe that our collective efforts will lead to a positive outcome. Let's keep the momentum going and continue advocating for a graduation ceremony that truly honors the achievements of the Class of 2024.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to this cause.
