My husband received invaluable care, support, and compassion at St David's Hospice in Holyhead during his most challenging days. The hospice not only provided him with the medical attention he needed but also offered emotional and psychological support to both him and our family. Their local presence was a godsend, allowing us to be close by whenever he needed us most, reducing the stress and logistical challenges that come with traveling long distances.

St David's Hospice has served the community of Holyhead and the wider Anglesey region for many years, offering palliative and end-of-life care to countless individuals and their families. Their support network and dedicated professionals are an integral part of our community, offering services that are essential to the well-being and dignity of patients in their care.

The decision to close this vital facility would leave a significant gap in the healthcare services available to those on Anglesey and increase the strain on families who are already grappling with the emotional and physical demands of caring for a loved one with a life-limiting illness. Many residents depend on having local access to these specialized services, and relocating them would create undue hardship.

Hospices like St David's play a critical role in providing comfort and dignity at life's end, an irreplaceable service that should not be lost to our community. Echoing the sentiments of many in Holyhead and Anglesey, we urgently request the decision-makers to pause and reconsider this proposed closure. Moreover, we urge them to engage with the community, explore alternative solutions to funding or resource challenges, and prioritize maintaining the hospice services which are so desperately needed.

Derbyniodd fy ngŵr ofal, cefnogaeth a thosturi amhrisiadwy yn Hosbis Dewi Sant yng Nghaergybi yn ystod ei ddyddiau mwyaf heriol. Nid yn unig y darparodd yr hosbis y sylw meddygol yr oedd ei angen arno, ond hefyd cynnig cefnogaeth emosiynol a seicolegol iddo ef ac i'n teulu. Roedd eu presenoldeb lleol yn fendith wirioneddol, gan ein galluogi i fod wrth ei ymyl pryd bynnag oedd ei angen mwyaf arnom, gan leihau'r straen a’r trafferthion logistaidd sy'n dod gyda theithio pellteroedd hir.

Mae Hosbis Dewi Sant wedi bod yn gwasanaethu cymuned Caergybi a rhanbarth ehangach Ynys Môn ers blynyddoedd lawer, gan gynnig gofal lliniarol a gofal diwedd oes i nifer di-ri o unigolion a'u teuluoedd. Mae eu rhwydwaith cefnogaeth a’u gweithwyr proffesiynol ymroddedig yn rhan annatod o'n cymuned, gan ddarparu gwasanaethau sy'n hanfodol i les ac urddas y cleifion yn eu gofal.

Byddai’r penderfyniad i gau’r cyfleuster hollbwysig hwn yn gadael bwlch sylweddol yn y gwasanaethau iechyd sydd ar gael i bobl Ynys Môn, ac yn cynyddu’r straen ar deuluoedd sydd eisoes yn ymdopi â’r gofynion emosiynol a chorfforol o ofalu am anwylyd sydd â salwch terfynol. Mae llawer o drigolion yn dibynnu ar fynediad lleol at y gwasanaethau arbenigol hyn, ac mae’u symud i leoliad arall yn debygol o greu caledi diangen.

Mae hosbisau fel Hosbis Dewi Sant yn chwarae rôl hollbwysig wrth ddarparu cysur ac urddas ar ddiwedd bywyd – gwasanaeth na ellir ei ddisodli ac na ddylai gael ei golli o’n cymuned. Gan adleisio teimladau nifer o bobl yng Nghaergybi ac Ynys Môn, rydym yn galw’n daer ar y rhai sy’n gwneud penderfyniadau i oedi a rhoi ail ystyriaeth i’r cau arfaethedig hwn.

Yn ogystal, rydym yn eu hannog i ymgysylltu â’r gymuned, archwilio atebion amgen i’r heriau ariannol ac adnoddau, ac i roi blaenoriaeth i gynnal y gwasanaethau hosbis sydd mor hanfodol eu hangen.

Llofnodwch y ddeiseb hon i annog y rhai sy’n gwneud penderfyniadau i gadw Hosbis Dewi Sant ar agor yng Nghaergybi, a sicrhau ei fod yn parhau i ddarparu ei wasanaethau amhrisiadwy i’n cymuned.
