Thank you so much for supporting our petition for our tribe (Seaconke Wampanoag) to gain recognition in the state of Rhode Island. We've just introduced two bills at the beginning of February (new year, new bill numbers!) seeking recognition of the Seaconke Wampanoag tribe as a Native American Indian tribe for the limited purpose of assisting us in establishing eligibility for federal benefits and privileges. We are not seeking gambling rights or land, just the ability to apply for federal benefits that would offer tribal members living in Rhode Island things like health care, housing and job support.

Voting will take place in the next couple of months and the more support we can demonstrate for these bills the more of an impact that can have on lawmaker's decisions, so please share this petition as widely as you can.
