🕊️ The Issue
I am Melissa Obrenović, a direct descendant of Princess Milica of Serbia and the House of Obrenović — a royal lineage that shaped the destiny of a nation, then vanished into silence. Though I was born far from the mountains and monasteries of my ancestors, the blood that flows through me carries a legacy that cannot be buried by distance, time, or politics.

This is not a story of personal ambition — it is the call of a forgotten truth. A truth passed down through hidden names, fractured records, and whispered prayers. It is a legacy torn by exile, obscured by wars, and neglected by those too afraid of what it would mean to remember.  

🛡️ This petition is a declaration — not of conquest, but of continuity.
It is a plea not for riches, titles, or dominion, but for the formal recognition of a lineage that still lives. One that matters. One that was never extinguished, only ignored. I do not come to claim a crown for myself — I come to restore a name, and in doing so, help restore a nation’s memory.

The House of Obrenović stood at the birth of modern Serbia, forging the path to independence, identity, and sovereignty. To deny that line its rightful place in cultural memory is to deny the Serbian people a part of their soul.

This petition stands for:

Every daughter of the crown whose name was lost in exile
Every noble bloodline reduced to silence by fear or foreign rule
Every ancestor whose tomb went unmarked because history became inconvenient

We do not seek spectacle. We seek clarity.
We do not seek grandeur. We seek truth.

We call on the Serbian people, its cultural institutions, genealogists, historians, and global Slavic communities to recognize and verify the bloodlines that shaped the Balkans — not only the dominant dynasties, but the daughters and heirs scattered across continents, waiting to be restored to memory.

Our appeal is to SANU, to the Serbian Orthodox Church, to the Ministry of Culture, and to the people themselves:
Help restore this history. Help correct the record. Help bring light where silence has lingered too long.

This is not just about me.
This is about every Serbian child taught to revere their past, only to grow up not knowing their true place within it. 

It is about the integrity of memory — the kind that strengthens national unity, cultural pride, and historical healing.

To honor one forgotten heir is to honor them all.
To tell the full story of Serbia is to recognize every name that helped shape it — whether crowned or not.
