Hello,
We believe it is appropriate to share an update on our next steps. During a conference call held last week, we achieved a modest but important outcome with HSMBC staff. For the first time, we were granted access to review the Submission Report that was provided to the committee last year.
Our review identified numerous errors, instances of misinformation, and the omission of critical references to publications and journals necessary to support the historical record. Without speculating on how these issues arose, it is evident that the report did not meet an acceptable standard of accuracy or completeness.
We were subsequently permitted to undertake a comprehensive revision of the report, a process that required several hours of work. This included the addition of appropriate historical references and supporting documentation, as well as the acquisition of endorsement letters from recognized vintage automobile historians. These endorsements had not been obtained for the initial committee review, despite our earlier provision of a list of key contacts.
The revised Submission Report has now been returned to HSMBC staff. We are awaiting confirmation as to whether it will be resubmitted to the committee for a fourth review. Our ongoing concern is that the committee’s prior consideration may have been influenced by the inaccuracies, omissions, and insufficient citations contained in the original report.
While we remain prepared to allow HSMBC staff to complete their due process, should a decision be made not to resubmit the corrected report, we intend to bring the matter directly to the Federal Minister. In doing so, we will rely on the original submission prepared by departmental staff, documented examples of missing and inaccurate references, and the petition that many of you generously supported.
Important to note, this process could take weeks, more likely even months.
