Petition Statement:
We, the undersigned, stand in solidarity with the people of Iran, who for more than four decades have been denied freedom, dignity, and self-determination under the rule of the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian people have made their position unmistakably clear:
the Islamic Republic does not represent them. It lacks democratic legitimacy and governs through repression, violence, censorship, and fear.

What is unfolding in Iran today is not a temporary protest or internal dispute. It is a national movement for fundamental change, for democracy, secular governance, human rights, and peaceful relations with the world.

Our Calls to Action
We respectfully call on the Government of Australia and all democratic governments to:

  1. Recognise the Democratic Alternative
Acknowledge and engage with the democratic alternative that millions of Iranians inside and outside Iran openly support, and recognise Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as a legitimate representative of the Iranian people’s aspirations for a democratic transition.
  2. Engage in Dialogue and Diplomatic Consultation
Invite and engage with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi in discussions concerning Iran’s future, democratic transition, and regional stability.
  3. Further Isolate the Islamic Republic
Increase diplomatic, political, and economic pressure on the Islamic Republic and its affiliated entities, and prevent their normalisation on the international stage.
  4. Hold the Regime Accountable for Human Rights Abuses
Condemn and act against the regime’s systematic violations of human rights, including the killing of protesters, imprisonment of dissidents, and repression of women, minorities, and children.
  5. Respond Urgently to the Current Situation in Iran
Take immediate action in response to the widespread internet shutdowns in Iran, which raise serious concerns about ongoing and imminent violent repression against civilians.
  6. Support the Iranian People, Not Their Oppressors
Clearly distinguish between the Iranian people and the regime that oppresses them, and ensure that international policies do not enable or legitimise repression.

We express our appreciation to the Government of Australia for its principled actions, including the expulsion of the Islamic Republic’s ambassador and the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation. We encourage the continuation and strengthening of this principled stance.

The Iranian people are not asking the world to fight their battle.
They are asking the world not to stand in the way of their freedom — and not to remain silent in the face of oppression.

A free and democratic Iran will be a force for peace, stability, and cooperation in the Middle East and beyond.

We stand with the people of Iran.
