Yesterday, June 1st 2021, I was contacted by the Wethersfield Connecticut Historical Society.  They shared with me that they are very interested in recognizing Prince Mortimer's service to our nation.  Ever since my original post on April 25th, they indicated they've been thinking about placing a monument and/or an informational panel in the cemetery, subject to approval by the Village Cemetery Association.  They also shared that they have contacted the local "Daughters of the Revolution" (DAR) chapter to invite them to partner.  The DAR has genealogical experts who may be able to uncover additional information.  Also, in an attempt to mark Prince Mortimer's grave, they indicated they will need to work with the State, as the location is possibly on State property. They've indicated the State Archaeologist has been helpful in the past; they also have a volunteer who is an expert on the Wethersfield prison and will work with him.  They also suggested the Town Council may be willing to issue a proclamation honoring Prince Mortimer.

I shared with them that I've already been working with the DAR on further researching Prince Mortimer for the purpose of acknowledging his life and service; I connected them with my resource. I also informed them that I met with the Wethersfield Veteran's commission over Zoom on May 12th regarding this topic, as well as with The Witness Stones Project on May 18th, also over Zoom; I connected them with those resources as well.

We agreed to continue gathering information, then meet over Zoom to compare notes.

Seems like great progress!  Thank you all for your support.  Please continue to support this petition!  I will post additional updates as we make further steps!
