A Student- and Alumni-Led Initiative to Reimagine the Howard Homecoming Tailgate Experience.

Howard's Homecoming is more than a weekend; it's a tradition that brings together generations of Bison, celebrates our culture, strengthens our community, and connects Howard to the broader world. 

We are calling on Howard University leadership to engage current students, alumni, and community stakeholders in a conversation about bringing the Homecoming tailgate experience back to campus through a thoughtfully planned, university-approved activation. 

Our vision is to work collaboratively with the university to develop a tailgate experience that honors Howard's legacy while creating meaningful opportunities for student involvement, alumni engagement, entrepreneurship, corporate sponsorship, and economic activity on campus. 

We recognize that any campus activation must be developed in partnership with the university and account for safety, security, logistics, facilities, and operational requirements. That is why our first step is to demonstrate community support and open a constructive dialogue with university leadership.

We are asking Howard leadership to: 

1. Engage current students and alumni in a formal conversation about reintroducing an on-campus Homecoming tailgate experience.
2. Establish a collaborative working group to explore the concept, including student representatives, alumni, university administrators, and relevant event-planning stakeholders.
3. Evaluate a sustainable operating model that explores sponsorships, vendor participation, student entrepreneurship, and other opportunities to generate economic value for the university and its community.
4. Explore a pilot program with clearly defined operational, financial, and safety requirements.

This initiative is not about placing demands on the university without a plan. It is about bringing forward a shared vision, demonstrating meaningful community interest, and working together to develop a model that benefits Howard.

I believe we can preserve the spirit of Homecoming, create new opportunities for the next generation of Bison, and strengthen the connection between students, alumni, and the university.
