Rumours that the bulldozer used to demolish the Crooked House was brought onto the site several days BEFORE the fire have been confirmed. The owner of the plant rental company, Lyndon Thomas, told Construction News he would "probably have done something different" if he’d known what was going to happen but denied any wrongdoing.
Several news outlets are also reporting that the new owners (Carly Taylor and her husband Adam) have a track record of circumventing - or even outright ignoring - planning regulations relating to purchases of other historic buildings. Mr Taylor in particular has been accused of having a “wilfully dangerous and chaotic attitude”, that the village around one of his developments was "lucky to survive his carelessness”, and that on another occasion he “gutted” the interior of a country inn before the council were able to issue a stop notice.
Finally, I would like to say thank you again for your continued support. What has happened to The Crooked House is totally unacceptable but maybe, just maybe, we can do something about it.
