A large group of us feel that the ABC show "The View" is increasingly out of touch. This echo chamber of partisan dialogue disconnects us from the show that insists on addressing essential issues of our society.

This sentiment is fanned by the frequency with which negative news about the show hits the headlines. Whether it's a panelist's controversial statement or criticism of the women on the panel, the negativity seems overwhelming, souring the show's viewing experience for many.

It appears that the majority of the country feels alienated by its leaning approach. In a survey by TVinsider in 2019, a majority of respondents stated that "The View" should be canceled—only 35% of those polled wanted it back for another season. The numbers speak for themselves.

However, if ABC insists on renewing the show, then it's essential to make sure it lives up to its name. We urge the producers to reflect the diversity of political thought prevalent in our society. This will facilitate more insightful, balanced conversations and foster a more comprehensive understanding of the issues discussed.

I believe it’s important for women to have a space where they feel fully represented. I also think this will lend a hand in making it possible for people to have discussions that don’t turn into arguments. We need to start listening to people not to respond but listening to people to understand. This will help our country grow.

There is a channel on YouTube run by Jubilee. Their goal is to find the middle ground between people from all different backgrounds for political change. It humanizes people. It helps to realize the complexity of human thought where just because you think one thing doesn’t mean you can’t have things in common and be friends with people who disagree. “The View” needs to take on this format and pull the Jubilee team into the mainstream.
