1. Donate to your local domestic violence organization to ensure they can continue operating services through COVID-19. (While national DV organizations are heavily funded, local, particularly rural, smaller organizations are going to struggle the most to stay open during this time).

2. Keep the information available and accessible! Abusers work hard to keep control. Because of this, victims are isolated and not getting the information they need to stay healthy and safe.

- Pressure Congress to make pertinent information as available and accessible as possible (mail flyers to homes, local outreach with DV organizations, etc.) Call your local representatives and ask them to do something about this issue.

- Write a letter to the editor of your local paper to continue making this a topic of discussion.

- Reach out to your local DV org and ask them to include accessible, FREE, easy to understand the information in their safety plans for abuse victims during COVID-19.

3. Call your senators and demand support for paid sick leave for every employee and unpaid care leave so that victims can remain financially independent. Also, extend the tax filing deadline so that victims who are already financially burdened do not have to panic.

And, most importantly, keep calling, emailing, tweeting, and writing your representatives to urge them to ACT and REAUTHORIZE THE VAWA so that survivors of domestic violence can be fully protected NOW.
