Born and raised in Pathankot, I have firsthand experience of the city's strategic location, serving as a crucial juncture between Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. I've witnessed students battling time to reach their colleges, tourists reconsidering their plans, and families enduring long hours in transit. All these hardships could be avoided if civil flights were operational from our local airport.

Pathankot Airport, although built, has remained largely underused due to the lack of civil flights. This significantly hampers the economic and social growth and development in our region. By functioning at its full capacity, the airport can not only ease transportation but also help harness the immense tourism potential of Pathankot, thereby creating jobs and uplifting our local economy.

Research shows that good air connectivity is directly proportional to regional development (Horário, 2016). The reactivation of this airport will provide better connectivity, reduce travel time, and largely benefit the local population, as well as tourists and businesses.
