40 percent of the Russian economy comes from selling oil and gas to foreign countries, its main consumer being the United States. This, in turn, drives up the price of gasoline and only deepens the pile of debt the U.S. owes to other countries. If we re-open the Keystone pipeline, it will pump more oil and gas into the United States, making us more independent from Russia and drive the gas and oil prices down.
