Dear Petitioners,
We have exciting news, but we need your help!
Thanks to the efforts of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland (CILIPS) and local library campaign groups around the country taking action, Mark Ruskell MSP has successfully secured a ‘Save Local Libraries’ members debate in the Scottish Parliament.
This is a crucial moment for our cause. We urge you to write to your local and regional MSPs to ask them to attend the ‘Save Local Libraries’ debate at 5 p.m. on Wednesday 5th February. There will also be a meet-and-greet from 1 to 2 p.m. in Committee Room 5, where MSPs can meet representatives from CILIPS, Scottish Library and Information Council, and members of several local library campaign groups, including Save our Rural Libraries, Save Glasgow Libraries, Save our Libraries Moray, Save Aberdeen Libraries and newly formed national library campaign group, Friends of Scotland’s Libraries.
You can quickly contact your MSPs through the WriteToThem website.
We are deeply grateful for all the support you’ve given Save Aberdeen Libraries. Your dedication and commitment have brought us this far.
Let’s continue to work together to protect more libraries from closure across our nation of Scotland.
P.S. If you want to watch the debate, you can get a ticket on the Scottish Parliament website.
