Join us Sunday @ 1:00 for a Hike
Wow doesn't get much better than this in December - 57 and sunny tomorrow! Take a break from the Holiday chaos, OptOutside, and join us for a hike along the Umstead State Park border with the Odd Fellows property. We'll walk the border along rolling hills, by Foxcroft Lake, and towards Crabtree Creek. It's a great opportunity to ask questions, learn more, and get involved with the effort to StopRDUQuarry.

Thanks Chad Meyer for the great photo!
RDU Plans Chain Link Fence
Last week we broke the news that RDU was in the latter stages of planning a chain link and barbed wire fence along the border of Umstead State Park, part of which would sever the very popular Reedy Creek Multi-Use Trail. Other parts of the fence will line both sides of the East Coast Greenway - looking more like a prison entrance than the welcoming we should give visitors to the park.
Here are the fence maps and details from our email last week:

Thank you to all those that reached out to local leaders!
(Governor Cooper and the councils/commissions of Raleigh, Wake County, Durham City, Durham County, Cary, and Morrisville). They all have a stake in this and can influence the outcome. You're making a difference!
Kudos to Jim Ruehle for going the extra mile and tracking responses from local officials!
