Motorcycles without mufflers shatter the relative silence as they ride around town. It is unacceptable that they are able to create such noise that it disturbs people who are sleeping or have conversations in their yards or on their balconies on busy streets. Why are these motorcycles allowed to operate outside the British Columbia Highway Traffic Act that prohibits the operation of an internal combustion engine on our roads and highways without a muffler. It also prohibits the removal of a stock muffler from a motorcycle. Section 7.03 is very clear it is a violation and it requires the RCMP to stop and issue a ticket and have these violators report to an inspection facility to have their mufflers or lack of examined.
