Kingston Council could have replaced the roof on The Kingfisher for £5 million.

4 1/2 years on and here we are - more plans, another soon to happen planning application for a scheme that will cost the earth and for which the council has no guarantee of what it will cost to build and to operate. And has the council.even got the money guven the huge need for spending on infrastructure, health and school facilities across the Borough.

Most important, the council has not made a statement about whether the proposed facilities will be open at flexible hours for the community and affordsble for everyone to use.

I have been swimming at Putney Leisure Centre. It is an old pool that has been maintained so it can keep operating as a local leisure centre at affordable prices.

The Kingfisher did not need to be demolised.

I am sadly still sceptical that a replacememt will ever be built. The demolition was always part of a bigger plan to redevelop the whole of Kingston Town as a "mini-City". They don't care if we and our kids have nowhere to swim.

My vote is still not to demoliish the Kingfisher.
