Watch me up against Kingston Council’s Stone Wall at Full Council here
A replacement for the Kingfisher Leisure Centre is one of 44 infrastructure projects, including 13 schools, that Kingston council says are needed to support the creation of a high rise city in the area with 30000 new residents but which the council has no idea where the resources will come from to make happen.
At Full Council last week I asked how the council could undertake the growth it is planning with no idea of whether it had any resources to fund these projects. I did not get an answer that responded to the substance of my question.
The council refused to log my question as one on their massive growth plans for Kingston Town and expansion of the town centre boundary up to Richmond Park, as they want to keep those plans quiet. They logged it as a question about The Kingfisher instead.
Watch the video of how Full Council - comprised of 48 councillors, people meant to be representing Kingston residents - sat in silence while I was shut down. I have written to the councillors about the stonewalling that is happening repeatedly to me but not had any responses from anyone.
My comments in the video are directed at The Council Leader not the Mayor who chaired the meeting. The 48 councillors continued to sit in silence while I expressed my state of distress and asked for some time to take breaths and drink some water before I asked my “supplementary question” to which I also did not receive a reply.
I will keep fighting for proper democratic scrutiny of the plans and decisions of Kingston Council.
I would appreciate your support.
