Dear everyone

Thank you so much for supporting the petition to save The Kingfisher Leisure Centre in The Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames from untimely demolition

We are now racing towards 2000 signatures in just over a week

Let's turn up the heat - please share the petition again today with five other people and post it widely on social media

You may now have seen posts shared by local councillors on twitter about the council's undisclosed plans to build an 18 storey tower on Kingston's ancient Cattle Market that adjoins the Kingfisher site, alongside other dense, high-rise commercial and residential developments

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the demolition of The Kingfisher is being driven by the desire to facilitate these development plans with no firm commitment that The Kingfisher's facilities will be replaced

In the meantime, Kingston residents will be without a pool and a whole generation of children of the age when they would normally learn to swim and go swimming on a regular basis will have been deprived of a vital community facility

We must stop these plans now and insist that The Kingfisher is repaired and re-opened as soon as possible
