Thank you to everyone who has recently signed the petition to save The Kingfisher Leisure Centre

More than 2000 people have now told Kingston Council in 9 days that they must not demolish The Kingfisher

Please keep sharing the petition as widely as possible so that more and more people understand what is going on and the short time frame we have to make the council change its mind

In a shock revelation, two local councillors have now revealed on twitter that high-rise plans for development across the Kingfisher and wider Cattle Market sites already exist, including for an18-storey tower. Meanwhile, there is still no firm commitment by the council to re-provide the facilities offered by The Kingfisher - or indeed any facilities at all - should the existing building eventually be demolished

Perhaps worse, however, it seems that Kingston Council wishes to shut residents out from having any influence on their massive development plans for The Kingfisher and Cattle Market sites

It appears that the council has agreed with consultants a programme of public consultation relating to the development of The Kingfisher Site with the aim of minimising any "external" influence on their plans

How can we trust the Council when they treat us in this way?

We need to act now and stop the proposed demolition of The Kingfisher before it is too late

If we stand together, Kingston Council will have to take notice. The more people we are, the louder our voice will be
