Rawcliffe Parish Council to display Pride Flag to support LGBTQ+ people

The Issue

As a person of the LGBTQ+ community I contacted Rawcliffe Parish Council in May and asked if they could display a Pride Flag through Pride Month of 2022 on the village Green. The reason was to show solidarity with the community and because it was 50 years since the first pride in the U.K. this year. A monumental event.
This request was denied and and I was told:

”Thank you for your email. At the parish council meeting this evening the council have decided that traditionally only the union flag, St George's Flag, Yorkshire Flag and Remembrance Flag is flown on the Green.”

However to my dismay this evening 27/06/2022 the standard Union flag has been replaced with an “Armed forces day” flag which does not fit within the Parish councils own “guidelines”

I would like for you to take time to support your LGBTQ+ family and friends and sign this petition to show the Parish Council that they should be inclusive to all members of their community.
