My first horse was a 9 year old, off the track thoroughbred, named Geistreiter. I experienced firsthand the injuries she had sustained from her racing career.

Thoroughbreds are often raced as young as one and a half to two years old, when their bodies are not yet fully developed. This early onset of intense physical stress can lead to a plethora of health problems later in life. 

By raising the minimum racing age for thoroughbreds, we can give these animals a better chance at long-term health and wellbeing. It's time we put animal welfare above profit margins.
