Raise the Federal Minimum Wage to $15 an Hour

Raise the Federal Minimum Wage to $15 an Hour
The Issue
We the people of the United States of America demand that the federal minimum wage be raised to $15 an hour.
Across this country, people are unable to feed their families, pay their rent, and afford their bills, because they are underpaid. Many people work multiple jobs in order to support themselves and their families.
The federal minimum wage in the United States is $7.25 an hour. It has been this same rate since 2009.
A $7.25 wage is impossible to survive on.
These wages are especially unfair in America's greatest and largest cities -- Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Nashville, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, and more -- cities where it is truly impossible to live on the $7.25 wage that is in place.
Wage stagnation is one of our country's key economic challenges. In order to reinvigorate our economy, we must invest in our citizens. We demand a fair and equal pay for all people.
Every person deserves a livable wage. All labor is skilled labor. All labor creates value and contributes to the benefit of our society.
The majority of workers who would benefit from a wage increase are women—59 percent, almost 19 million women. More than 1 in 4 working women would see a raise in their wages. Women of color in particular would benefit from the wage increase, as many are segregated into low-wage jobs. Twenty-three percent all workers who would see a wage increase are black or Latina women.
We are at an opportunistic time in history where more people are demanding a fair wage, people are leaving low-paying industries such as restaurant and hospitality work, and there is less opposition to wage stagnation.
Please sign this petition to demand that Congress raises the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Please share with friends!
We will be collecting signatures and then serving this petition to the members of Congress.
Let's fight for $15!
