My Name Is Sophie

My aim is to get enough signatures from people in support of Raising the age of consent and to make enough noise around the topic that our government will make the changes. I believe once changed, In 5 years statistics will drop. We as a nation are desperately in search of a solution to drop national statistics. I believe this can be a big head start. 

MY MOTIVATION; I like many other men and women suffered from Intimate Partner Violence. Beginning the night of my 16th Birthday and at the hands of a man 10 years older than me. This went on until i was 23. 

This then lead me to have some rather turbulent relationships, leading to domestic violence and sometimes in violence that could have been prevented.

I was in kindergarten, My dad called to tell my brother and I too come celebrate his girlfriend's birthday, We asked dad how old she was turning. 18 years old he said! I watched my father commit awful violence to her and her family over the course of my primary school years. All over media, In and out of courts and jail.

If the age of consent had been risen here is just two, filtered down, PG, examples of what can go wrong with the current age of consent and the ongoing impacts on the increase in domestic violence statistics as a result of such a low age of consent.

The solution is SIMPLE Protect our children, Protect our Future, RAISE THE AGE OF CONSENT and in 5-10 years the intimate partner violence & domestic violence statists will drop dramatically.

By raising the age of consent we are closing the gaps where we can and allowing us to focus on other areas where we don't have solutions.
