मरीज़ों का जानकारी का अधिकार !
जैसा कि लगभग स्पष्ट है, मरीजों को अपनी चिकित्सा स्थितियों, उपचारों और स्वास्थ्य स्थिति के बारे में पूरी और सटीक जानकारी मिलनी चाहिए। तभी वे (या उनके परिवार के देखभालकर्ता) अपने उपचार के बारे में निर्णय ले सकते हैं।
इस जानकारी में उनके रोग का निदान, विभिन्न उपचार विकल्पों के जोखिम और लाभ, और उपचार न करने के संभावित परिणामों के बारे में विवरण शामिल होना चाहिए। जानकारी को रोकना या सही से नहीं देना रोगी की अपनी देखभाल में सक्रिय रूप से और सार्थक रूप से भाग लेने की क्षमता को कमजोर करता है।
दुर्भाग्य से भारत में इस अधिकार का पालन बहुत कम किया जाता है! डॉक्टरों को आमतौर पर भगवान सरीख मन जाता है और शायद ही कभी उनसे सवाल किया जाता है। और जब सवाल किया जाता है तो वे इसे पसंद नहीं करते हैं! बुनियादी साक्षरता का स्तर कम है, पैसा , बहुत ज्यादा कार्यभार और किसी भी स्पष्ट कानूनों या नियमों की कमी अपनी भूमिका निभाती है।
हालांकि, उचित जानकारी के लिए रोगी के अधिकार को सर्वौच्च मन गया है। भारत के साथ-साथ "उन्नत" देशों में भी।
इसलिए हमें जागरूक होना चाहिए और जब भी जरूरत हो, समय पर इस जानकारी की मांग करनी चाहिए।
इस तरह के और अधिक अधिकार, और विभिन्न कानूनी प्रावधान इस याचिका के हस्ताक्षरकर्ताओं को अपडेट के रूप में ईमेल द्वारा भेजे जाएंगे।

Patients Right to Information
As is almost obvious, patients should get complete and accurate information about their medical conditions, treatments, and overall health status. Only then can they ( or their family caregivers ) make informed decisions about their treatment.
This information should include details about their diagnosis, prognosis, the risks and benefits of different treatment options, and the potential consequences of foregoing treatment. Withholding or distorting information undermines the patient's ability to participate actively and meaningfully in their own care.
Unfortunately in India this right is held more in abeyance than followed !Doctors are usually held next only to Gods and hardly ever questioned. And when questioned do not like it! Basic literacy levels are low, Commercial interests, high workload and lack of any regulatory consequences play their own part.
However, the patient right to appropriate information has been held inviolate. Both in India as well as the " advanced" countries.
Hence let us be aware and demand this information, and in timely manner, whenever needed.
