The Issue

The mental health of children and young people in the UK is an urgent and growing concern. Across the country, the demand for mental health services is increasing, yet many areas, including Surrey and Hampshire, are facing critical underfunding of their CAMHS. As a result, vulnerable children and young people are not receiving the timely support and care they need to thrive and grow into healthy adults.

Surrey and Hampshire are both large counties with diverse populations, and the mental health challenges faced by young people are varied and complex. Whether dealing with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, or more severe mental health issues, children and young people in these areas are hugely struggling and need increased support otherwise the issues will develop and they will begin to feel gradually less and less seen.
