Hi , Thought I’d give everyone a quick update on what’s happened since I handed in our petition a couple of weeks ago. As well as the hand-in, around 50 families of children with all sorts of medical conditions met with their MPs that day at Parliament. I made a short video for the day to talk about how important it is to convince MPs that this matters. But we didn’t quite get it ready in time, so I thought I’d share some of it with you now! I hope it’ll still be useful as you still have a chance to meet with your MP. If you ask them to meet locally, you’ll get the same support from the Health Conditions in School Alliance as everyone got in Parliament (tips on what to say, all the facts and stats) and it’ll really help the campaign. You can ask for a local meeting using this Diabetes UK tool (anyone can use it), and it just takes a minute: https://campaigns.diabetes.org.uk/page/15275/action/1 Meeting face-to-face with those MPs really seemed to make a difference. It’s hard for MPs to ignore you when you’re telling them our children are at risk unless they do something. Lots of them have promised to ask question in Parliament, and put pressure on the government to take this seriously. There’s already been at least one question I’ve seen here: https://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2017-10-26b.455.9#g461.1 And it mentions getting a debate in Parliament. So hopefully we’ll be hearing a lot more about this in the next couple of weeks! And if I do hear anything, you’ll be the first to know J Thanks very much everyone! Louise
