I started my petition because my daughter’s school didn’t have a medical conditions policy to care for children with long-term conditions, which put her in serious danger when she fell ill. But what about the schools in your area? I know its Christmas and everyone’s super busy, but if you have a couple of minutes over the holidays please check the website of your local school or schools for a ‘Medical Conditions Policy.’ You can help us understand how many children with medical conditions like Type 1 diabetes, epilepsy, M.E., Asthma and many others, may be at risk. The Health Conditions in Schools Alliance have offered to put all our work together, so you can let them know what you find out by entering the details in the contact form on their website. Checking is really simple and you can do it in three quick steps: 1: Find your local school’s website: putting the school name and your town name into Google should do it 2: Check if they have a ‘medical conditions policy’ on their website 3: Add the name of the school and your town with ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the online form at the bottom of the Health Conditions in School Alliance webpage (http://medicalconditionsatschool.org.uk/) Once I hear the results I’ll let you all know what they are and keep you posted on the next steps in our campaign. Some schools might have policies they don’t put on their website of course, but this is a good first step in understanding whether local schools are doing everything they can to keep children safe. Thanks again for all your brilliant support and have a great Christmas break everyone! Louise
