Rahway Station should be renamed Rahway Junction
The Issue
Rahway station is an NJ Transit commuter rail station located in Rahway, New Jersey along the Northeast Corridor located 20.7 miles southwest of New York Penn Station, with service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines.
15 miles Northeast is Secaucus Junction; but, despite its name, Secaucus Junction is not a true junction, in which trains can switch between lines; there is no rail connection between the upper and lower levels. The station has two platform levels connected by a third level on top.
However, Rahway station is a true junction, since it is the location where the North Jersey Coast Line splits off the Northeast Corridor, and thus the station should be renamed "Rahway Junction".
