State Government fails to act on request by Scenic Rim Council

2015 - local councillors Nigel Waistell & Nadia O'Carroll sent a letter to Minister for Natural Resources & Mines to assist with commercial water extraction on Tamborine Mountain - No Action from State Govt 2015 - Scenic Rim Council sends letter requesting intervention by State Government to manage groundwater extraction - Considered not enough evidence available - No Action taken by State Government April 2016 - New Mayor Greg Christensen asks State Government to help fund some research to see if a problem exists - Dept declines Dec 2016 - Scenic Rim Council funds further research by QUT to look at the impact of commercial water extraction - ongoing. We now have over 1300 signatories to our petition and despite that we are now in election mode we need to raise more awareness of this issue as it is occurring all across the state. eg Adani given unlimited water extraction licence.
