FOLKS as I write tonight, we are only 974 away from reaching our target.

Why do we need Civilian Oversight into policing in Queensland - especially the complaints system and corruption issues? Tonight's story says much more than the media let on. A SENIOR COP, A DETECTIVE was caught out lying to her superior to get out of a speeding ticket! Why is this story so important? Well if a police officer - a senior one at that - is willing to lie to her superior to get out of a speeding ticket, just what else has she lied about in her work? Who else has fallen victim?

FOLKS in terms of victims of police misconduct and corruption issues, just why is it so difficult for those victims to get compensation? Why should a victim have to fight the STATE for compensation? And MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHY should tax payers have to foot the bill for that compensation? We believe there should be a simplified system for victims to access compensation of police misconduct and corruption, and that this compensation should come out of the pockets of those police who do the wrong thing.

When a member of the public assaults a police officer for example, that police officer is able to apply to the courts for an order for compensation. Why is it a much more serious matter when a police officer assaults a member of the public? It is because it is done by a person in a position of power and control! 

FOLKS - we the public deserve much better than the pattern of abuse issues demonstrated over many years by police towards the public. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
