INQUIRY INTO POLICE PRACTICES AROUND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ANNOUNCED TODAY!

FOLKS today it was announced that a separate inquiry will be launched into police responses to domestic violence, after the scathing report by the Domestic Violence Task Force.

"Many of the report's concerned the QPS, particularly a recommendation to establish an independent commission of inquiry to examine "widespread cultural issues" within the police service.

The recommendation of a commission of inquiry into the QPS was previously deemed unnecessary by Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll, and the police union called it an overreach." 

The Inquiry is apparently set to run for 4 months.

NOW is the perfect time for this petition to really push home the issue of a culture with in the rank and file of police in Queensland where Domestic Violence advocates have previously highlighted the need to address this issue.

Add to this, the recent Facebook group, involving almost 2,000 QPS members, making racist, homophobic posts and comments, that resulted in just 8 police officers being "COUNSELLED" with no officer actually disciplined, and you can plainly see the heart of the problem in Queensland with police in general! A weak senior management, unwilling to take any real action against undesirable elements.

THIS is why we need Civilian Oversight for Police Misconduct and Corruption issues in Queensland - and indeed EVERY State in Australia.
