Today the QPS Commissioner says there have been changes to 'support' accountability among QPS Officers around the issue of when an officer is accused of domestic violence.

NOT ONLY is this far too little far too late - note the media reports in this update that stem from LAST YEAR, with calls for a full inquiry into the culture of violence among QPS Officers, today's announcement by the QPS Commissioner is a 'lets tick the box response' and offers NOTHING to address the cultural issues with in QPS ranks around violence.

Here is today's announcement by the Commissioner:

Workers in the DV Sector - including those cited in the attached media release, counsellors dealing with the fallout of victims of police violence against them, and community groups field the real cost to our community of POLICE VIOLENCE. The real victims of police violence truly can not quantify the psychological and physical consequences of police violence, nor can they quantify the consequences for being a victim of police giving false evidence, setting up for crimes they did not do, and other forms of police misconduct.

ACCOUNTABILITY comes in various forms - however the consequences seem to be missing in any real meaningful form when it comes to disciplining police. It would appear that a small percentage of police wrong doers are sacrificed - leaving the vast majority of wrong doers to get away scot free.
