FOLKS - the media release posted in today's update is one we should follow.

It concerns police being investigated for bringing alcohol into a protected Indigenous Community where POLICE are responsible for arresting and charging local residents who are NOT allowed to bring alcohol into this dry community.

I am willing to predict that this 'investigation' will be superficial, and no QPS officer is actually charged, or sacked over the incident. Time will tell if this story is yet another one of 'those' stories that gets forgotten by the public and white washed.

THE REASON WHY WE NEED CIVILIAN OVERSIGHT?

FOLKS police enforce laws that are supposed to represent community standards - in other words, it is what civilians supposedly want by electing political representatives - supposedly representing the laws WE as civilians want to be enacted, and then enforced according to a set of standards that SHOULD be acceptable to civilians.

The trouble with any closed system of investigation is that it is open to corrupt practices, and this is NOT DESIRABLE by any civilian police are supposed to be serving and protecting!
