TIME FOR A RANT!!!
FOLKS - in most States of Australia, if a citizen assaults a Police Officer, the 'crime' is subject to an increased penalty.. In Queensland for example, the same crime of assault has a penalty 5 years more than if a citizen assaults another member of the public.

Here's the thing. I actually agree with this, as well as increased penalties for assaulting an emergency worker, health workers and so on. Everyone should be able to go to work expecting to be safe - right?
The other thing is, certain professions have increased penalties for assaulting someone under your care. For example, a disability support worker is subject to higher penalties since there is a duty of care, and the person who is under care is considered vulnerable.

OK, so here is the BEEF! Why then should Police Officers get off when they assault (AKA known as excessive force) with absolutely NO penalty, or charges, or if they are charged, the same or less of a penalty than a citizen would have received?

Police not only owe a duty of care (they do not legally apparently), to the very people they are sworn to protect and serve, there is a much higher standard of behaviour expected from police in general! Add to that the many cases of vulnerable people we see posted up in these groups who are assaulted, mocked, and otherwise brutalized - there is a clear case to present to Governments for increasing the penalty of police found to have crossed the line. Further to this, when in Court, I believe that the Court has an obligation to refer charges against police who are found by the Court to have crossed the line...
IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE!
