HOW CAN QPS PROTECT VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WITH SO MANY PERPETRATORS AMONG THEIR OWN RANKS?

This week, the QPS Commissioner has been talking up big that they want laws to lock up alleged Domestic Violence Offenders.

This idea comes amidst criticism that QPS does not respond well to domestic violence incidents, and yes, any violence should be acted upon. But what happens when the perpetrator is a police officer?

Research consistently demonstrates that police officers have a higher percentage of perpetrators actually among their own ranks than the general community, but how then does the Police 'Service' respond?

When we have cases of Police Officers accessing QPrime to get the current address to give to their civilian 'mates' so they can then go and commit more violence, and have senior police fight the victim in court to avoid compensation and to then have the perpetrator appeal a criminal conviction to have 'no conviction recorded' in court - reeks of a system of policing that is not only dysfunctional, but corrupt at the core up to the highest ranks.

This is just one of many scenarios demonstrating a need to clean out the police service, to insist on the HIGHEST STANDARDS, and to have CIVILIAN OVERSIGHT INTO POLICE COMPLAINTS.
