Dear petition signers, Teachers and support staff in Queensland Catholic schools still need your support! On Thursday 25 February 2016, employees around the state will stop work, with the majority to stop work for a full day. As part of rolling stoppages, employees in Mackay schools will stop work on Tuesday 1 March 2016. This stop work action will be the strongest message yet to employers that the concerns of teachers and support staff regarding increasing workloads and inequitable wages must be addressed. This will be the eighth and most comprehensive stop work action in the ten months that employees have been negotiating with their employers. Members will rally at 10 locations across the state during the stop work on 25 February in support of this growing action. Members are taking this action because employers have no plans to maintain quality education in Queensland Catholic schools. Queensland Catholic school employers have shown time and time again that they have: • no plan to deal with the increasing workloads and pressures placed on teachers • no plan to deal with the fact the most experienced teachers are paid less just because of their Queensland postcode • no plan to deal with the inequitable conditions of some of their lowest paid staff Full day strike action is a last resort for members in the face of the ongoing refusal from employers to address these issues.
