On the 02/08 I had a discussion with Jim Mcdonald regarding our need for a Police Beat in Withcott. I discussed the crime rates in Withcott over the last 5 years (according to QPS online) and compared these to Helidon, Cambooya and Pittsworth over the same period - with Withcott coming out on top with the most crimes committed/reported. Jim showed enthusiasm and support for what we want to achieve. Realistically, the station from Helidon would not be able to be relocated, however; having a station put in at Withcott or significantly increasing the number of officers stationed in Helidon (presently 5 officers) seems more likely. This is not something we can achieve overnight however at the conclusion of our phone call, we set a goal to have a desirable outcome achieved within the next 12 months. I also wanted to note that the officers at the Helidon station are doing a great job and this petition is also for them - to give them more support. Keep an eye out for further information/updates!
